UC Irvine Extension was established in 1962, as the continuing education arm of the prestigious university. Quarterly we offer thousands of courses and programs offered on campus, online and on site to local, regional and global constituencies. UC Irvine Extension helps adult learners reach their career advancement and personal enrichment goals.

As director of management, marketing and business programs at UC Irvine Extension, the continuing education arm of University of California, Irvine, Melanie Mitchell develops and manages a large portfolio of diverse certificate programs in Internet Marketing, Social Media, Marketing, Project Management and Agile. Melanie has vast experience in developing successful programs and building relationships with subject matter experts worldwide. In addition, Melanie’s innovative programs help address the needs and challenges of the diverse business communities that UCI Extension serves.

Melanie Mitchell, Director of Management, Marketing and Business Programs

Prior to joining UC Irvine Extension, Melanie worked in marketing at The Irvine Company, where she helped to develop and promote campaigns publicizing its many initiatives and community events throughout the area.

Melanie holds a bachelor’s degree in educational foundations from the University of Oregon, where she also played on the Oregon Ducks Women’s Volleyball team.  In addition, she holds a master’s degree in special education from Chapman University. Melanie and her husband live in Huntington Beach with their two children.
